  • SubEthaEdit Multi-user editor. Great for coding, as multiple users can all work on the same code at once.

Unix/X11

  • Fink is a port of the package system developed for Debian Linux (apt-get, dpkg, etc).
  • DarwinPorts is a package system developed for Darwin, on which Mac OS X is based. Can be compared to fink or FreeBSD's Ports system.
  • OSXGNU is a project which builds GNU software to use the Apple Installer.
  • pkgsrc is the package system developed for NetBSD. Ported to OS X and other unixes.
  • portage is the package system developed for Gentoo Linux. Ported to OS X and other unixes.
