Proof that GBS and FYAD don't have a monopoly on creating catchphrases and then beating them into the mud.

On April 3 2004 eaglebtc posted a thread in SH/SC titled something like "WTF? Directory full of thousands of screengrabs of my machine?" In it he asked for help figuring out this directory had appeared on his machine. To SH/SC it was clear his machine had been compromised by some variety of malware, in spite of his assurances that he was "very careful of what I download. Especially I make sure I do not have spyware." However Speakerphone 720 found a profile of his where he gave props to his homies in #betas (an IRC warez channel) and that kind of blew the "very careful" argument out of the water.

However it was CarryTheZero who discovered eaglebtc's website which offered Internet Security Consulting with the words "Hackers, identify(sic) thieves, and advertising agencies lurk in the shadows doing everything they can to steal your personal information. I have a vast array of tools at my disposal to build a strong digital defense against outside attacks." Which is irony.

The thread exploded into a laugh riot, NotShadowStar changed the title to reflect the idiocy within it, eaglebtc threw his pacifier out of the pram and edited his original post to an image macro, and a short lived trend was started of making posts where the train of thought is interrSTRONG DIGITAL DEFENSE.

Like most frowned-upon catchphrases, STRONG DIGITAL DEFENSE migrated to IRC. It's invoked in #onebutan about once per day, on average.
